Research Fellow – CO2 Capture

About the role

The Nanyang Environment and Water Research Institute (NEWRI) at NTU is seeking a Research Fellow to lead a project on CO2 capture using calcium‑based sorbents in a circulating fluidized bed system. The role involves full‑cycle research, from experimental design to data analysis and dissemination of results.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate project execution and communication among collaborators.
• Design and conduct experiments, troubleshoot, and analyse data alongside the PI and Co‑I.
• Upgrade, operate, and manage day‑to‑day activities of a pilot‑scale circulating fluidized bed reactor.
• Procure consumables and research equipment.
• Write and publish research papers and prepare progress, final, and recommendation reports.
• Present findings to collaborators, funding agencies, and the scientific community.
• Train research assistants on project‑specific techniques.

Required profile

• PhD in Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Materials Science or a related discipline.
• Experience developing calcium‑based CO2 sorbents for fluidized bed applications.
• Knowledge of treatment and reutilisation of incineration ashes is highly desired.
• Strong scientific writing and communication abilities.
• Record of peer‑reviewed publications is advantageous.
