Research Fellow – Cognitive Neuroscience of Learning

About the role

The Centre for Research and Development in Learning (CRADLE) at Nanyang Technological University seeks a Research Fellow to advance the science of learning through cognitive neuroscience. The role involves independent investigation, grant preparation, and interdisciplinary collaboration to translate neuroscience findings into educational strategies.

Key responsibilities

• Design and conduct independent research projects on learning and cognition.
• Prepare grant proposals and manage associated administrative tasks.
• Perform literature searches, write systematic reviews and meta‑analyses.
• Supervise and lead a team of researchers, ensuring high‑quality outputs.
• Coordinate with faculty across psychology, education, neuroscience, and technology.
• Support centre‑level administrative duties as needed.

Required profile

• PhD in psychology, cognitive neuroscience, education, or a related discipline with a strong publication record.
• Experience in teaching or conducting research in educational settings is preferred.
• Excellent scientific writing and interpersonal communication skills.
• Proven ability to work independently and develop programmatic research.
• Experience with systematic reviews, meta‑analysis, and research reporting.
• Strong statistical knowledge and familiarity with R and SPSS.
• Knowledge of social‑science research methods and tools such as Qualtrics or Google Forms.
• Leadership and supervisory experience for research teams.
• Hands‑on experience with behavioral experiments in neuro‑ or cognitive psychology.
• Experience with neuroimaging techniques (functional/diffusion MRI, EEG, fNIRS, TMS) and image‑analysis software (SPM, FSL, AFNI, Matlab, DSIstudio).
