Research Fellow (Computer Science) - NLP

About the role

The College of Computing & Data Science (CCDS) at NTU is looking for a Research Fellow to develop a software platform supporting Smart Nation applications. The successful applicant will focus on natural language processing (NLP) and its application to knowledge and information extraction.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement NLP algorithms and models for semantic analysis, such as topic modeling, embeddings, named-entity recognition, coreference resolution, parsing and multilingual translation.
• Apply NLP to knowledge and information extraction.
• Carry out translational research applying state-of-the-art solutions at scale to real-world challenges.
• Document work and produce scientific reports.
• Mentor junior staff.

Required profile

• PhD in Computer Science.
• At least 5 years of software development experience; entry-level candidates with relevant project experience may also be considered.
• Strong research background in NLP and a passion for NLP and AI research and applications.
• Good publication record.
• Experience in multilingual translation is an added advantage.

Required skills

• Proficiency in one or more programming languages (e.g., Python).
• Experience with research packages and modules.
• Experience in large-scale text processing and analytics.
