Research Fellow – Main Group Chemistry

About the role

The School of Chemistry, Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology at NTU is seeking a Research Fellow to advance the synthesis and reactivity studies of low‑valent main‑group compounds, with a focus on boron‑containing molecules. The successful candidate will join a vibrant research team, contributing to cutting‑edge projects that combine experimental and computational chemistry.

Key responsibilities

• Synthesize low‑valent main‑group compounds using Schlenk and glove‑box techniques.
• Investigate the electronic structure and reactivity of p‑block element compounds.
• Perform computational studies with the Gaussian software package.
• Prepare detailed experimental reports and draft manuscripts for publication.
• Supervise undergraduate, graduate, and exchange students, as well as new research staff.
• Maintain laboratory equipment, ensure safety compliance, and assist with overall lab management.

Required profile

• PhD in Chemistry or a closely related discipline.
• Extensive knowledge of fundamental and advanced main‑group chemistry.
• Strong publication record in top international journals.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Required skills

• Schlenk technique and handling of air‑ and moisture‑sensitive molecules.
• Proficiency with Gaussian for computational chemistry.
• Experimental and analytical chemistry expertise.
• Experience with p‑block element chemistry, especially boron compounds.
