Research Fellow – Power Grids & Markets

About the role

The School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at Nanyang Technological University seeks four highly motivated Research Fellows to advance market design for future low‑carbon power systems. You will work on cutting‑edge projects that integrate electricity market mechanisms with power system planning and operation.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct research on next‑generation electricity market design, coordination, and decision‑support frameworks.
• Develop analytical, optimisation, simulation and data‑driven models for market clearing, pricing, and flexibility coordination.
• Investigate integration of distributed energy resources, storage, and AI‑enabled market simulation.
• Evaluate market mechanisms against objectives such as energy adequacy, system stability, carbon reduction and resilience.
• Collaborate with faculty, industry partners and Singapore’s power grid stakeholders.

Required profile

• PhD in Electrical Engineering, Energy Systems, Economics, Computer Science or a related field.
• Strong research background in power systems, electricity markets or energy economics.
• Proven ability to publish in high‑impact journals and present at conferences.
• Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills.
