Research Fellow – Quantum Materials Physics

About the role

The School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at Nanyang Technological University is seeking a Research Fellow to join the Belopolski Research Group (QuantumX Labs). The role focuses on the discovery and characterization of topological quantum materials for applications in electronics, photonics, quantum computing, catalysis and biology.

Key responsibilities

• Synthesize atomically precise thin films of novel topological materials using molecular beam epitaxy (MBE).
• Develop and apply machine‑learning‑driven approaches to accelerate MBE material development.
• Integrate epitaxial layers with exfoliated two‑dimensional materials and fabricate device structures.
• Perform transport, Hall and non‑linear measurements, as well as magnetisation studies.
• Characterize electronic structure with angle‑resolved photoemission spectroscopy (ARPES) at synchrotron facilities.
• Build theoretical models to interpret experimental data on topological phases.
• Utilise nanofabrication facilities and collaborate with other research groups within the school.

Required profile

• Ph.D. in quantum physics, electrical engineering or a closely related discipline.
• Demonstrated experience in optics, two‑dimensional materials or theoretical modelling of quantum systems.
• Strong motivation to work in an interdisciplinary, high‑impact research environment.
