Research Fellow – Quantum Physics (Neutral Atom Arrays)

About the role

The Centre for Quantum Technologies at Nanyang Technological University seeks a Research Fellow to lead the development of an experimental platform for a quantum processor based on neutral atom arrays. The role combines theoretical modelling, experimental implementation, and mentorship of junior researchers in a vibrant, interdisciplinary environment.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build, and optimise the experimental apparatus for neutral‑atom quantum processing.
• Develop numerical twins and simulation tools for digital quantum computers.
• Map many‑body problems onto Hamiltonians compatible with the experimental hardware.
• Perform data acquisition, analysis, and reporting on a weekly basis to the principal investigator.
• Supervise, train, and mentor undergraduate and PhD students working on related projects.

Required profile

• PhD in Theoretical Physics with a focus on Quantum Physics, Optics, or a closely related discipline.
• Demonstrated knowledge of condensed‑matter physics, AMO physics, and Rydberg physics.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within an experimental research team.
• Experience in supervising or mentoring students is advantageous.
