Research Fellow / Senior Research Fellow – X‑Ray Facilities

About the role

The NTU Facility for Analysis, Characterisation, Testing and Simulation (FACTS) seeks a Research Fellow or Senior Research Fellow to lead and support X‑ray based analytical services. You will work in a state‑of‑the‑art laboratory, enabling researchers across the university to utilise advanced diffraction and spectroscopy techniques safely and efficiently.

Key responsibilities

• Operate and maintain Single Crystal X‑ray Diffraction, X‑ray Fluorescence, and Electron Probe Microanalysis instruments.
• Provide training, consultation, and technical support to a broad user base.
• Coordinate routine maintenance and troubleshoot issues with vendor engineers.
• Develop and deliver courses on X‑ray diffraction and fluorescence, ranging from single lectures to multi‑day workshops.
• Collaborate with external vendors to organise and support user training sessions.
• Offer crystallography consultancy for university research projects.
• Prepare experimental reports and contribute to scientific publications.

Required profile

• PhD in Materials Science, Physics, or a closely related discipline.
• Strong background in crystallography, including single‑crystal, powder, and pair distribution function analysis.
• Experience with advanced quantitative Rietveld analysis, in‑situ measurements, and PDF analysis.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
