Research Fellow – Single‑Molecule Biophysics

About the role

The Institute for Digital Molecular Analytics and Science (IDMxS) at NTU seeks a highly motivated Research Fellow to lead an independent project investigating how biomolecular condensates regulate enzyme function using quantitative single‑molecule techniques.

Key responsibilities

• Design and execute an independent research project on enzyme regulation within condensates.
• Develop and validate novel molecular probes or synthetic condensates through genetic engineering or protein design.
• Perform advanced single‑molecule spectroscopy (e.g., smFRET, FCS) to acquire data in vitro and in cells.
• Analyze complex datasets and prepare high‑impact scientific publications and conference presentations.

Required profile

• PhD in biophysics, biochemistry, molecular or cell biology, or a closely related field.
• Strong track record of experimental research and quantitative analysis.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively, with reliable motivation and communication skills.
• Experience with single‑molecule spectroscopy techniques and protein/DNA biochemistry, including labeling, expression, purification, activity assays, and reconstitution.

Required skills

• smFRET and FCS spectroscopy.
• Protein and DNA biochemistry techniques.
• Data analysis using MATLAB or Mathematica.
• Live‑cell imaging (beneficial).
• Microfluidics device operation or fabrication (beneficial).
