Research Fellow - Ultrafast 2D Optical Spectroscopy

About the role

The School of Chemistry, Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology at NTU Singapore is looking for a Research Fellow to develop and apply multidimensional optical spectroscopy to study complex systems, including ultrafast excitation energy transfer in photosynthetic systems and spectral diffusion in complex molecular systems. The work centres on Coherent Two-Dimensional Electronic Spectroscopy (2DES) within the school's Ultrafast Multidimensional Optical Spectroscopy Lab.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain, operate and troubleshoot ultrafast laser systems, including the Regenerative Amplifier Laser System, White Light Generator and ultrafast two-dimensional (2D) optical spectrometer.
• Design, conduct and analyse experiments in ultrafast transient absorption spectroscopy and multidimensional optical spectroscopy.
• Perform computational simulations to investigate ultrafast dynamics and energy transfer processes in biological systems.
• Prepare and draft research manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals.
• Guide and mentor PhD, postgraduate and undergraduate students in research activities.

Required profile

• PhD in Chemistry, Physics, Biophysics or a related discipline.
• Demonstrated research experience in ultrafast nonlinear optical spectroscopy, with successful completion of relevant projects and publications as first or main author in international peer-reviewed journals.
• Proven ability to operate, maintain and troubleshoot ultrafast laser systems, including regenerative amplifiers, Optical Parametric Amplifiers (OPA) and White Light Generators (WLG).
• Established publication record as author or co-author in optics, chemical physics, physical chemistry or related fields.
• Experience with ultrafast optical pulse shapers is highly desirable.
