Research Scientist – AI & Education

About the role

We are looking for a senior Research Scientist to drive AI‑powered innovations for our education platform. You will translate scientific hypotheses into production‑ready code that improves teaching, learning and research experiences for millions of users.

Key responsibilities

• Define and pursue a research agenda aligned with product strategy, focusing on real‑world education challenges.
• Design, execute and analyse rigorous experiments; interpret results to identify viable solutions.
• Develop proof‑of‑concept implementations in Python and PyTorch, and shepherd them through to production using GitLab and MLflow.
• Collaborate closely with research associates, machine‑learning engineers and technical leadership to ensure impact across the AI development pipeline.
• Mentor junior researchers and guide experimental direction.

Required profile

• PhD in Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics or a related discipline, or equivalent applied research experience.
• 7+ years of applied research or research‑engineering experience, preferably in education technology or applied AI.
• Proven record of turning research into shipped products, patents or high‑impact publications.
• Strong ability to work autonomously while balancing scientific rigor with delivery speed.
