Research Scientist – Digital Energy & AI

About the role

We are looking for a highly motivated Research Scientist to lead cutting‑edge investigations in digital energy technologies powered by artificial intelligence and digital twin concepts. The position is based in Singapore and focuses on areas such as smart microgrids, energy storage, vehicle‑to‑grid, virtual power plants and coordinated multi‑energy scheduling.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct in‑depth research on one or more digital‑energy domains, developing AI‑driven models for generation forecasting, grid dynamics, and storage optimisation.
• Design and implement high‑fidelity digital twin representations of energy systems to enable real‑time monitoring, fault detection and intelligent decision‑making.
• Publish high‑impact papers in top international journals and conferences, and contribute to patent applications.
• Supervise and mentor master’s and PhD students on related research topics.
• Manage research project timelines, coordinate resources and ensure milestones are met.
• Collaborate with local research institutes, energy companies and government agencies to translate research outcomes into industry solutions.

Required profile

• PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical & Electronic Engineering or a closely related field.
• Demonstrated research achievements (publications or patents) in at least one digital‑energy sub‑field.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Python programming.
• Experience with deep‑learning frameworks such as PyTorch.
• Strong data‑processing, model‑building and algorithm‑optimization capabilities.
