Research Scientist - Green AI (LLM, NLP, ML)

About the role

The Alibaba-NTU Global e-Sustainability CorpLab (ANGEL), supported by the Singapore RIE2025 Fund, develops green digital technologies for global sustainability. It is seeking a Research Scientist (Green AI) to research efficient, sustainable and scalable artificial intelligence technologies, developing algorithms and system-level innovations that improve the energy and computational efficiency of large AI models while keeping performance high.

Key responsibilities

• Research Green AI technologies, including efficient training and inference of foundation models and large language models (LLMs)
• Develop scalable AI systems that allow practical deployment of foundation models on resource-constrained computing platforms
• Develop AI technologies that contribute to sustainability applications
• Publish research findings in leading AI conferences and journals
• Collaborate with internal and external research partners to deliver innovative Green AI solutions
• Mentor junior researchers and contribute to research proposals and strategic initiatives

Required profile

• PhD in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Natural Language Processing or a closely related discipline
• Demonstrated expertise in LLMs, NLP, efficient deep learning and AI model optimization
• Research experience in Green AI, sustainable computing or energy-efficient machine learning
• Excellent publication record in reputable journals and conferences
• Ability to work independently and collaborate across multidisciplinary teams

Required skills

• Strong programming in Python and modern AI frameworks such as PyTorch and Hugging Face
