Resident Technical Officer – Civil & Structural

About the role

The Resident Technical Officer (C&S) will act as the on‑site supervisor for civil and structural works, ensuring that all activities are executed safely, on time, and to the required quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise the timely execution of works and enforce quality control in line with contract specifications, drawings and statutory requirements.
• Review drawings and specifications for discrepancies, report findings to the Officer‑in‑Charge (OIC) and ensure corrective actions.
• Inspect materials, samples and workmanship; rectify non‑compliance and maintain defect lists until resolution.
• Attend and minute site, progress, variation, QA/QC and coordination meetings.
• Resolve queries from main contractors and coordinate activities with other trades.
• Assist with hand‑over of completed works and keep accurate, up‑to‑date records.
• Coordinate all building and civil & structural services and work with the safety team to maintain maximum site safety.
• Perform any additional ad‑hoc duties as required.

Required profile

• Diploma in Civil or Structural Engineering from a recognised polytechnic or equivalent.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience as a Resident Technical Officer, including at least 2 years supervising construction of roads, buildings, viaducts and monitoring data.
• Willingness to work shift patterns, including night shifts.
• Valid 2026 RTO Certification accredited by IES.
