Safeguarding Controller - APAC

About the role

Wise is hiring a Safeguarding Controller for APAC, based in Singapore. Working alongside a team of Safeguarding specialists and reporting to the Global Safeguarding Accountable Owner, you will help existing controllers and product managers keep the APAC safeguarding control framework running smoothly, covering both payments and e-money and investment businesses. The role sits at a time of product growth and expansion.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure new product launches comply with safeguarding regulations and are controlled in a proportionate way
• Keep policies and procedures complete and coordinate with controllers to obtain attestations of controls and alignment to the framework
• Coordinate and implement first-line assurance for APAC safeguarding controls
• Maintain the APAC safeguarding risk and controls matrix for APAC entities
• Act as first point of escalation for safeguarding reconciliation discrepancies and give SME advice on resolution
• Link incidents to control failures so senior management can see control themes
• Prepare MAS regulatory reporting and other safeguarding regulatory reports
• Coordinate the annual safeguarding audit
• Document, challenge and build an end-to-end view of the internal control environment using the internal risk management software

Required profile

• 5-8 years of CASS (Client Assets Sourcebook) / CMAP (Customer Moneys and Assets Protection) experience in APAC (Singapore preferred) across investment and payments
• Strong understanding of the Payments Services Act (PSA) under MAS
• Clear writing skills and ability to explain regulation to non-SME colleagues
• Proactive problem solver with commercial acumen and a collaborative approach in a multinational team
• Interest in learning how a FinTech scale-up operates
