Safety Officer (Workplace Safety & Health)

About the role

The Safety Officer will support Surbana Jurong’s Singapore site by ensuring compliance with the Ministry of Manpower (MOM) Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) Act, conducting regular audits, and driving continuous improvement of safety performance across all project activities.

Key responsibilities

• Evaluate WSH non‑compliance, unsafe conditions and practices to identify performance gaps.
• Conduct monthly WSH audits and joint site inspections with project stakeholders.
• Review contractors’ safety‑related documents and submissions.
• Participate in incident investigations, determine root causes and recommend corrective actions.
• Perform monthly reviews of contractors’ safety and health management systems for MOM WSH Act compliance.
• Prepare and compile monthly WSH reports with statistical updates and key insights.
• Attend WSH committee meetings, client‑contractor safety meetings and monthly safety site walks.
• Support quarterly safety campaigns and promotional activities.
• Maintain and close out the Health and Safety Register for the project.
• Report to the Owner’s Representative on‑site and act as the Owner’s representative for WSH‑related matters.

Required profile

• Valid registration with MOM as a Workplace Safety and Health Officer (WSHO).
• Minimum of 5 years relevant experience in WSH within engineering or construction.
• Strong interpersonal and communication abilities.
• Excellent decision‑making, analytical and problem‑solving skills.
• Familiarity with local regulatory requirements related to workplace safety and health.
• Ability to work independently in a dynamic environment.
