Satellite Planning Engineer - Scenario and Capital

About the role

Micron is hiring a Satellite Planning Engineer (Staff/Senior/Engineer) in Singapore to carry out strategic scenario and capital planning analyses. The role works with central and site stakeholders on Fab Scenario Optimization Studies, Business Planning, Supply Chain planning, and processes such as Sales & Operations Planning (SnOP) and Model of Record (MOR). It partners with Site Industrial Engineering, Site Inventory Control, New Product Introduction and Finance teams on fab loading commitments, manufacturing capability, pilot line loading plans, cost per wafer and business plan proposals.

Key responsibilities

• Apply optimization techniques to set optimal loading volumes that meet target bit (GB) and market share, considering new technology qualification milestones and ramp planning
• Model capacity thresholds with industrial engineering concepts and analyze all scenario options, proposing options for better return
• Plan capacity requirements for future products with central teams and quantify impacts on capital spend
• Analyze cause-effect relationships for tooling purchases and capital impact, including Cost of Transition (CoT) and budget vs. actual capex gaps
• Follow Business Planning calendar and agreements, coordinate stakeholder inputs for quarterly business plan studies, and maintain the Satellite SharePoint
• Streamline business efficiency through automation, manage multi-department projects, databases, scenario ownership and change control, and analyze data to support financial decisions
• Run baseline capital spend analysis to keep cash flow neutral across the fiscal year, and monitor actual spend against projections with a target variance of less than +/- 5%
• Work with site stakeholders on supplier delivery dates in Capital Asset Lifecycle Management (CALM), highlight cash flow savings, and coordinate CALM simulations to run net neutral and on time
• Build capital dashboards for automated data visualization and deeper analysis of site capital expenditure

Required profile

• Minimum 2-3 years' experience in semiconductor capacity planning (IE) or strategic planning is preferred
• Degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing, Mechanical, Chemical Engineering or a related field
• Strong data analysis, problem-solving and data validation skills, with good reporting and presentation abilities
• Team player with independence and determination to finish tasks on time

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and SharePoint
• Dashboard and report development in Tableau and Power BI
• AI-enabled analytics tools such as Microsoft Copilot and Power BI AI, and Python-based analytics (Python coding is a plus)
• Knowledge of statistics, data analysis and problem solving
