Senior Accountant – APAC & Japan

About the role

Spotify’s APAC Accounting Hub in Singapore is seeking a self‑motivated Senior Accountant to act as the day‑to‑day finance point of contact for Japan while supporting broader APAC reporting. The role combines hands‑on accounting, statutory compliance, and cross‑border coordination in a fast‑paced environment.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as the primary Japan finance liaison within the APAC Accounting Hub, coordinating and escalating finance matters.
• Own Japan statutory reporting, filings, accounting controls and compliance timelines.
• Partner with global Tax, Treasury, Legal and APAC Accounting teams on Japan‑related operational issues.
• Coordinate with the Japan BPO provider on local execution, including WHT documentation and tax office communications.
• Review and validate Japan statutory financial information, ensuring alignment between IFRS and local GAAP where required.
• Interpret feedback from Japanese tax authorities and external service providers, assess impact and drive follow‑up actions.
• Prepare and support consolidated APAC reporting during close cycles and audit requirements.
• Perform variance analysis, identify process‑improvement opportunities and contribute to special projects.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 + years of accounting operations experience in a multinational, preferably technology‑focused, environment.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field; CPA, CA or equivalent preferred.
• Strong understanding of IFRS and experience with local statutory reporting.
• Business‑level proficiency in Japanese (spoken and written) and professional English communication skills.
• Proven ability to work with external service providers such as audit firms, tax agents and BPO partners.
