Senior Backend Engineer, Stablecoin Platform

About the role

Airwallex, a financial operating system used by more than 675,000 businesses, is hiring a Senior Backend Engineer for its stablecoin platform. You will build stablecoin infrastructure from the ground up, enabling customers and internal systems to buy, hold, send and settle with tokenised currency globally. The role is based in the Singapore office, five days a week.

Key responsibilities

• Build stablecoin infrastructure from the ground up, covering minting, burning, transfers and reconciliation.
• Design and implement secure systems for key management, transaction signing, gas fee management and blockchain integration.
• Own services across the full lifecycle of stablecoin transactions.
• Build internal ledgering systems that track balances across multiple chains and token types.
• Integrate stablecoin infrastructure with Airwallex's existing FX and payment systems.
• Write, review and ship production code while working with Product, Infrastructure and Compliance.

Required profile

• Five or more years of experience as a software engineer, with strong object-oriented design and production-grade development.
• Proven experience building and integrating blockchain infrastructure such as wallets, transaction flows or key management into financial systems.
• Experience integrating new systems into legacy or distributed environments without regressions.
• Strong understanding of secure system design, especially private key handling, signing, encryption and operational controls.
• Ability to pick up unfamiliar tools quickly and clear communication across engineering, product and non-technical teams.
• Preferred: experience in FX, payments or financial infrastructure.

Required skills

• Strongly typed languages such as Kotlin, Java, C#, C++ or Rust; Python is useful but not sufficient on its own.
• Blockchain infrastructure and secure system design.
