Senior Buyer – Manufacturing

About the role

The Senior Buyer will lead procurement activities for a manufacturing operation, focusing on sourcing machine parts, components and services for the oil & gas sector. Working with minimal supervision, you will ensure timely, cost‑effective acquisition while upholding quality, safety and compliance standards.

Key responsibilities

• Interpret and follow Weatherford’s Purchasing Policy, IMS Quality Policy and related procedures.
• Initiate and manage RFQ processes for supplies, materials, equipment and services.
• Negotiate with approved vendors to secure competitive agreements.
• Maintain the Approved Vendor List and process vendor approvals.
• Create and process purchase orders using JD Edwards (JDE) and expedite deliveries.
• Record procurement data including pricing, delivery schedules, quality performance and inventory.
• Develop strong supplier relationships and ensure ethical business practices.
• Set up parts, BOMs and routing in JDE, conduct cost analysis and support standard cost roll‑ups.
• Issue work orders based on sales orders and product/component requirements.
• Collaborate with internal departments to align procurement needs.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial or related) – preferred.
• Minimum 5 years of procurement or purchasing experience, preferably in oil & gas, manufacturing or machine‑parts environments.
• Proven experience with outside processors and subcontracted manufacturing.
• Strong understanding of procurement processes and supply‑chain operations.
• Experience using ERP systems, especially JD Edwards.
