Senior Cloud Engineer (Networking), Infrastructure

About the role

Airwallex, the AI-native financial operating system used by more than 675,000 businesses, is hiring a Senior Cloud Engineer (Networking) for its Singapore office. You will help build the cloud networking foundations that keep the infrastructure highly available, secure and connected across regions and providers.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build and optimise highly available, multi-account and multi-region AWS and GCP network architectures, including Layer 3 routing, Transit Gateway, Shared VPC, Cloud Router and Direct Connect.
• Automate and manage global cloud network infrastructure with Terraform through Git-driven CI/CD pipelines.
• Manage BGP routing, IPsec VPNs and dynamic cloud routing between AWS, GCP, regional points of presence and external banking partners under strict financial regulatory requirements.
• Act as an escalation point for complex networking issues and join a global on-call rotation.
• Partner with Security, DevOps and Platform teams to build secure landing zones and automated network controls.

Required profile

• Hands-on experience designing and operating AWS network environments at scale, including VPC, Transit Gateway, route tables, Direct Connect and AWS Network Firewall.
• Associate-level networking certification or equivalent hands-on experience (e.g. CCNA, AWS Advanced Networking Specialty, GCP Professional Cloud Network Engineer).
• Preferred: fintech or banking experience, familiarity with GCP-preferred architectures, advanced certifications (CCNP, JNCIP), and experience integrating AI-assisted workflows.
• Comfortable owning the roadmap, working across time zones with a globally distributed team, and over-communicating early.

Required skills

• Terraform or equivalent infrastructure-as-code tools.
• GCP networking concepts such as Shared VPC and Cloud Router, or multi-cloud experience.
• Familiarity with Linux, Python or Bash scripting and CI/CD pipelines.
• Strong knowledge of routing, switching, subnetting, TCP/IP and BGP.
