Senior Cloud Networking Engineer

About the role

Airwallex, the AI-native financial operating system used by more than 675,000 businesses, is expanding its globally distributed platform and needs a Senior Cloud Networking Engineer to build and operate the network infrastructure that keeps its financial solutions available. The role works from the Singapore office and covers global cloud network infrastructure, LAN/WAN/VPN and cloud environments across multiple data centres.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and expand the global cloud network into new regions and markets while meeting regulatory and compliance requirements.
• Design, implement and operate highly available, secure production network infrastructure across LAN, WAN, VPN and cloud environments.
• Manage global connectivity over international leased lines and domestic internet, and troubleshoot routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers and cloud environments.
• Drive complex network incidents to resolution as first responder and escalation point, with clear after-action reports.
• Partner with InfoSec, DevOps, Database, Corporate IT and other teams to integrate network solutions.
• Maintain network documentation (diagrams, configurations, procedures) and evaluate and recommend networking technologies.
• Take part in on-call rotation and scheduled network upgrades, and mentor junior engineers.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or a related field, with five or more years of relevant experience.
• Strong written and verbal English; ability to explain network concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
• Outcome-oriented, collaborative, and able to make sound decisions with incomplete information.
• Preferred: experience with broader technical teams, Linux, Python or Bash scripting, Terraform, CI/CD pipelines, other cloud providers (Aliyun, Azure), elastic connectivity and data-centre providers, IPsec VPN, fintech networks and strict compliance policies.

Required skills

• CCNA / JNCIA-level networking foundation and mixed vendor experience (Juniper, Palo Alto, Cisco, Aruba).
• At least three years of AWS networking in production; basic GCP networking concepts.
• Core BGP and route-filtering, command-line configuration and troubleshooting (JunOS, IOS or equivalent).
• Change-control processes, event-driven automation, and familiarity with Linux.
