Senior Dry Etch Engineer - Advanced NAND

About the role

Micron is opening a Dry Etch Senior Engineer position within its advanced NAND research and development team in Singapore, where it is running full-scale NAND R&D alongside high-volume manufacturing. The engineer works directly with process integration and other process areas such as wet etch, CVD, diffusion, metals, lithography and CMP, owns the dry etch process roadmap and meets program and yield goals.

Key responsibilities

• Develop dry etch processes that meet the physical and electrical requirements of Micron's products
• Optimize dry etch processes to reduce cost, process variability and improve process capability
• Collaborate with process integration and other process development teams to develop new solutions
• Run root cause and failure mode analyses to understand hardware limitations and drive vendors toward solutions
• Perform fundamental research to drive solutions for next-generation products
• Maintain a technology development pilot manufacturing line
• Support process transfer to production facilities; some domestic and/or international travel may be required

Required profile

• Aptitude for a research and development environment
• Strong analytical and creative problem-solving skills, able to solve complex issues by root-cause or model-based methods
• Ability to work independently with minimal direction and to multi-task across several projects
• Education: a Master's or PhD in Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical, Material Science, Physics, Chemical Physics, Chemistry, Semiconductor Engineering or a related major; or a Bachelor's degree in one of those fields with 3 years of relevant experience

Required skills

• Working knowledge of statistics, preferably statistical process control
• Basic academic knowledge of thermodynamics, transport phenomena, dry etch processing, kinetic theory or basic plasma physics
• Data science basics, Python coding or scripting, and strong computer skills including MS Office are desirable
