Senior Engineer - Process Development, Thin Films (CVD/Diffusion) NAND

About the role

Micron is hiring a Senior Engineer to support thin film (CVD/Diffusion) process development for advanced NAND technology. The engineer runs experiments, characterizes films, troubleshoots process and tool issues and supports process transfer into manufacturing. The role sits in Fab 10N/X and requires strong fundamentals in thin film deposition and characterization, disciplined experimental execution (DOE/SPC) and collaboration with integration, metrology, failure analysis, yield and equipment partners.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, optimize and characterize thin film processes (CVD/Diffusion) to meet performance, reliability and manufacturability targets.
• Design and run experiments, analyze data and share results in appropriate technical forums.
• Characterize films using techniques such as SEM, TEM, XPS, SIMS and AFM, and correlate results to process outcomes.
• Support process transfer and pilot line execution, and sustain process maturity for owned processes.
• Work with Process Integration, Metrology, Surface/Characterization labs, Electrical Failure Analysis, Yield, Manufacturing and equipment vendors to deliver robust processes.
• Maintain documentation of experiments, settings and learnings, and produce technical reports.
• Use AI-assisted tools to improve efficiency and quality, and contribute to continuous improvement.

Required profile

• PhD, or Master's degree with at least 3 years, or Bachelor's degree with at least 5 years of relevant experience in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Physics or a related field.
• Demonstrated foundation in thin film deposition and characterization; R&D/PD environment readiness is important.
• Structured problem-solving, learning agility, clear communication and cross-functional collaboration.
• Preferred: exposure to dielectric and carbon-based films and NAND structural/electrical requirements, and experience with equipment suppliers or tool qualification/transfer.

• Fundamentals of thin film deposition (CVD/Diffusion) and film characterization.
• DOE/SPC basics and ability to analyze experimental data.
• Understanding of plasma/vacuum systems and process chemistry where applicable.
