Senior Engineer, TEM (Yield Enhancement Lab)

About the role

Micron is looking for a driven candidate for a night-shift engineer position in its Yield Enhancement (YE) lab under Technology Development (TD) at its Singapore site. The role focuses on Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM) analysis and TEM sample preparation using a Focused Ion Beam (FIB) system and other methods such as micro-cleaving, polishing and ion etching. It also involves operating state-of-the-art TEM for device analysis and deepening knowledge of electron microscopy, semiconductor device physics and processing, and characterization techniques. Successful candidates are placed at the corresponding Engineer level depending on experience and education.

Key responsibilities

• Perform daily FIB and TEM operations, from wafer receiving and management to equipment setup and sample completion.
• Prepare high-quality TEM samples using FIB and liaise with customers to obtain the information needed for sample preparation.
• Innovate new FIB techniques or adopt sophisticated ones to meet special customer needs, and develop solutions that improve sample-preparation efficiency.
• Provide detailed handover to the next shift for smooth transitions.
• Use approved AI-enabled tools to optimise lab procedures and keep the lab within safety requirements.
• Handle technical information, images, tool logs and internal communications responsibly, following AI, data-security and quality-control expectations.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Materials Science, Physics or a related field.
• Comfortable working permanent night shifts.
• Strong background in materials science, physics or chemistry.
• Willingness to support occasional overtime and emergency response.
• Self-motivated, able to work independently, and a good team player with other TEM engineers and processing groups.

Required skills

• Skilled experience and proven knowledge of FIB and TEM operation is preferred.
• Creative problem solving and strong written, verbal and presentation skills.
