Senior Firmware Engineer - SSD Controller

About the role

Micron Technology, Inc. is hiring a Senior Firmware Engineer to build high-performance controller firmware for volatile and non-volatile memory systems. The role supports the evaluation, creation, build, bench testing, debugging and failure analysis of firmware for new memory controllers and Solid State Drives (SSD) that reduce power, latency and SoC complexity.

Key responsibilities

• Develop firmware IP subsystems for SSD products that meet or exceed the technical specification matrix, covering performance, endurance, capacity, functionality and quality/reliability.
• Create firmware unit and functional tests to ensure subsystem quality, function and performance at each integration milestone.
• Triage failures, file bug reports and help development teams isolate issues.
• Provide detailed, accurate summaries of firmware development activity to management and the team.
• Build collaborative relationships with peers and management, and support the continuous improvement of team and personal technical skills.

Required profile

• Masters or Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in embedded firmware development and debugging.
• Ability to work independently with minimal day-to-day supervision.
• Experience leading or supervising engineers and technicians.

Required skills

• Programming languages such as C and Rust, and programming tools and environments.
• Python is an advantage.
• PCIE/NVMe storage interfaces and NAND flash are a plus.
• Software design, programming, debugging and modification, and code problem resolution.
