Senior Instrument & Control Engineer

About the role

The Senior Instrument & Control Engineer provides technical support to Production and Maintenance teams, ensuring instrument reliability, safety, and compliance across the terminal. The role involves close collaboration with internal stakeholders and external agencies to optimise instrument performance and support plant expansions.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver technical support and solutions for instrument‑related issues to Production and Maintenance.
• Develop and update maintenance procedures for instruments, PLCs, fire & gas systems, ESD, metering, CCTV and security equipment.
• Conduct root‑cause analysis of incidents and implement preventive actions.
• Lead Management of Change (MOC) projects to improve instrument reliability from engineering through commissioning.
• Ensure verification, inspection, testing and certification of electrical and instrument equipment for hazardous areas.
• Support major turnarounds and emergency response activities.
• Manage the functional safety lifecycle of Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS) in accordance with IEC 61511.
• Assist expansion projects, ensuring seamless integration with existing plant assets.

Required profile

• Degree in Electrical & Electronics Engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum 8 years of experience in instrument & control maintenance/design in oil & gas or petrochemical plants.
• Familiarity with local codes, regulations and international engineering standards.
• Experience with functional safety (IEC 61511); certification is a plus.
• Proven track record in installation, commissioning, maintenance and troubleshooting of complex electrical and control equipment.
