Senior Manager/Assistant Director - Legal Counsel

About the role

Eastspring, a global asset manager, is seeking a Senior Manager/Assistant Director to lead its legal function across the asset‑management business. The role combines strategic legal advisory, contract management and cross‑functional project leadership to support fast‑moving investment activities.

Key responsibilities

• Provide pragmatic legal advice across portfolio management, trading, investment operations, fund distribution and corporate functions.
• Draft, review and negotiate fund‑related documentation, distribution agreements, NDAs, co‑investment agreements, vendor and technology contracts.
• Identify key risk areas, determine negotiation positions and deliver clear legal recommendations and sign‑offs.
• Build strong partnerships with Compliance, Risk, Operations, HR, Technology and business teams, acting as a solution‑oriented legal partner.
• Represent Legal on cross‑functional projects such as technology platform implementations, outsourced service provider arrangements and data transformation programmes.
• Translate legal and policy requirements into operational guidance for non‑legal stakeholders.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of experience in legal roles within financial markets, preferably asset management.
• Proven experience handling commercial and asset‑management agreements.
• Strong commercial judgment and ability to work under time‑critical conditions.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
