Senior Mechanical Engineer

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead the transition of conceptual designs through to implementation and handover. The role will ensure sustainability targets are embedded in designs and will be responsible for producing tender documentation, including project specifications and contract schedules.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and progress mechanical designs in line with the Design Checklist.
• Chair sub‑contractor progress meetings and weekly Mechanical Department client meetings.
• Collaborate with Quality Assurance and Quality Compliance Engineers to align with specification requirements.
• Mentor junior engineers to build a skilled internal team.
• Provide System Supervisors with up‑to‑date shop and space management drawings and brief them on scope, tender documents and contractual revisions.
• Assume Lead Engineer responsibilities in the absence of a project‑based Lead Engineer.

Required profile

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in mechanical design and construction.
• Broad technical competence across the full range of mechanical systems.
• Proficient with standard computer applications.
