Senior Mechanical Engineer – NPI & DFM Specialist

About the role

MDS+ Group is seeking a senior mechanical engineer who thrives at the intersection of product design and high‑volume manufacturing. You will own new‑product‑introduction (NPI) programs from design freeze through mass‑production ramp, ensuring that validated designs transition smoothly to scalable, cost‑effective products.

Key responsibilities

• Lead end‑to‑end NPI programs, managing design freeze, pilot builds, EVT/DVT/PVT cycles, and production readiness reviews.
• Drive Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) initiatives with suppliers and contract manufacturers in Asia.
• Manage tooling projects, including injection molding, metal forming, and precision component tooling.
• Own Bills of Materials (BOMs), Engineering Change Orders (ECOs), and technical documentation throughout the NPI lifecycle.
• Qualify suppliers and manufacturing processes to meet required standards.
• Collaborate with design teams to iterate CAD models, technical drawings, and perform tolerance stack‑up and GD&T reviews.
• Report program status, risks, and decisions to product and leadership teams.

Required profile

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• 10–15 years of experience in hardware product development, with a proven track record of taking designs from freeze to mass production.
• Hands‑on experience working on factory floors and managing contract manufacturers in Asia.
• Background in MedTech, consumer electronics, or precision hardware is preferred.

Required skills

• Proficiency with SolidWorks, CATIA, or equivalent CAD platforms.
• Strong knowledge of GD&T and tolerance stack‑up analysis.
• Experience with injection molding, metal forming, and precision component tooling.
• Ability to create and manage BOMs, ECOs, and technical documentation.
