Senior Operations Manager

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Operations Manager to lead the day‑to‑day voyage management of dry bulk vessels within our Global Ocean Freight department. The role oversees commercial operations, coordinates with internal and external stakeholders, and drives efficiency across a fleet of 7‑10 vessels.

Key responsibilities

• Manage daily commercial operations for 7–10 dry bulk vessels from fixture to completion.
• Oversee loading, discharge, documentation, freight settlement and claims handling.
• Act as liaison between vessel owners, brokers, agents, cargo receivers, traders, chartering and internal teams.
• Coordinate complex stow plans and calculate laytime, demurrage, despatch and related claims.
• Monitor fleet performance, support voyage optimisation (speed, fuel consumption) and bunker planning.
• Appoint and manage port agents and service providers; negotiate vendor contracts and rates.
• Ensure compliance with company policies and maritime regulations.
• Lead or support shipping‑related projects focused on process improvement, cost avoidance and risk mitigation.
• Develop and maintain standard operating procedures and mentor junior operators.
• Provide limited night and weekend availability for urgent operational issues.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree.
• Minimum 6 years experience in dry bulk vessel operations.
• Strong understanding of maritime operations and commercial voyage management.
