Senior Palliative Care Physician

About the role

Methodist Welfare Services is looking for an experienced and compassionate Senior Palliative Care Physician to lead clinical care for patients with advanced illness, frailty, dementia and end-of-life needs across its nursing homes and home-based services in Singapore. The role combines direct patient care with multidisciplinary leadership, clinical governance and service development.

Key responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive palliative and end-of-life care in nursing homes and patients’ homes, including assessments, diagnosis, treatment planning and symptom management.
• Lead advance care planning, goals-of-care discussions and end-of-life decision-making with patients, families and caregivers.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver holistic, person-centred care.
• Supervise and mentor nurses, locum doctors and the Advanced Practice Nurse.
• Support quality assurance, clinical governance and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Contribute to the development and enhancement of integrated palliative care services.
• Engage with stakeholders and clinical partners to improve care outcomes.

Required profile

• Fully registered with the Singapore Medical Council.
• Graduate Diploma in Palliative Medicine (GDPM) or equivalent qualification preferred.
• At least 5 years of post-registration clinical experience.
• Experience in palliative care, geriatrics, community medicine, home care, hospice or nursing home medicine.
• Demonstrated experience in multidisciplinary leadership, clinical supervision and quality improvement.
• Excellent communication, stakeholder management and family engagement skills.
