Senior Product Development Engineer, Equipment

About the role

AMD is seeking a Senior Product Development Engineer to lead equipment reliability and performance across its advanced toolsets. The role serves as the primary technical liaison between product development groups, platform validation, and engineering teams, ensuring high uptime and rapid issue resolution for critical laboratory equipment.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and improve uptime of advanced equipment such as Focused Ion Beam, Reactive Ion Etchers, Nano‑probers, Scanning Electron Microscopes and Transmission Electron Microscopes.
• Coordinate preventive maintenance, vendor interactions, and field service for hardware and software issues.
• Design and qualify new lab spaces with strict vibration, EMI and acoustic controls.
• Lead structured troubleshooting using 5‑Why, Ishikawa, FMEA and convert findings into standard work.
• Act as single point of contact for OEMs and third‑party service providers, managing contracts, scope, cost and KPI compliance.
• Enforce safety procedures including LOTO, ESD, chemical/gas handling, UHV and radiation compliance.
• Partner with failure analysis engineers on readiness gates, tool installations, lab moves and capability upgrades.
• Provide on‑call and shift coverage for equipment bring‑up, critical debug and factory‑stop events.

Required profile

• Proven ability to make independent technical decisions and own the accuracy and reliability of results.
• Experience driving MTBF/MTTR improvements and influencing product line decisions.
• Strong communication skills to collaborate with equipment owners, lab operations, EHS and external OEMs.
• Hands‑on maintenance background with complex capital equipment.
