Senior Research Fellow – Indigenous Quantitative Research

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Research Fellow to lead quantitative research within the Yuwaya Ngarra‑li partnership with the Dharriwaa Elders Group. The role focuses on community‑led analysis of the Walgett Children and Young People Linked Administrative Dataset to inform policy for Aboriginal children and young people.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct independent, high‑impact research in quantitative data, criminology and Indigenous Data Governance.
• Lead the management, analysis and reporting of the Walgett Children and Young People Linked Administrative Dataset.
• Collaborate with the Director, Yuwaya Ngarra‑li team and Dharriwaa Elders Group, providing expert advice on data linkage and quantitative analysis.
• Produce publications and evidence that support systemic change in education, health and criminal justice outcomes.
• Mentor junior researchers and potentially supervise staff in the future.

Required profile

• Proven experience in senior‑level quantitative research, preferably in criminology or health‑education outcomes.
• Demonstrated expertise in community‑led, place‑based research and Indigenous data governance.
• Strong track record of publishing peer‑reviewed research.
• Ability to work collaboratively with Indigenous communities and academic partners.
