About the role
The School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at Nanyang Technological University seeks a Senior Research Fellow to lead the design and development of chip‑scale laser systems for quantum sensing under Project Apollo. The role combines integrated photonic device design, fabrication process development, and system characterization within a world‑class research environment.
Key responsibilities
- Lead integrated laser design and quantum photonic device development.
- Oversee large‑scale photonic integration and coordinate with foundry partners.
- Direct device and system characterization while mentoring junior researchers.
- Supervise PhD students and research assistants.
- Collaborate with industry partners such as DSO and Samsung.
- Prepare high‑impact publications and present at international conferences.
- Contribute to grant proposals and ensure project milestones are met.
Required profile
- PhD in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Photonics, Optical Engineering or related field.
- Minimum 4 years post‑doctoral experience in integrated photonics, laser design or quantum photonic systems.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Track record of publications in high‑impact journals.
Required skills
- Photonic simulation tools: Ansys Lumerical, Tidy3D.
- Layout tools: GDSfactory, KLayout.
- Programming: Python, MATLAB.
- Cleanroom fabrication: lithography, etching, thin‑film deposition, device packaging.
