Senior Researcher, Natural Language Processing

About the role

Lightspeed Studios is a Tencent business unit focused on advancing game development through stories, gameplay and advanced technology. Its Lightspeed Tech Center is an R&D department under Lightspeed Studios that develops PUBG Mobile and other games, leading research into new technologies and providing technical services across the game lifecycle. This Senior Researcher position covers NLP research and development within the team.

Key responsibilities

• Research and develop NLP tasks such as Chinese word segmentation, part-of-speech tagging, sentence analysis and named entity recognition.
• Work on text classification, sentiment analysis, data mining, text generation, topic analysis, label extraction and similar research and development tasks.
• Optimise existing online algorithms and build efficient, reliable NLP solutions that combine business needs and data.
• Explore applications of NLP techniques and deep learning algorithms in games.
• Follow the latest developments in academia and industry and apply findings quickly.

Required profile

• Familiarity with NLP fundamentals, statistical models, machine learning principles and experience on NLP projects.
• Experience in big data mining, knowledge-graph auto-making and deep learning is preferred.
• Experience in sentiment analysis, relationship extraction and event extraction is preferred.
• Publication of academic results in NLP journals and conferences (e.g. EMNLP, ACL) is preferred.

Required skills

• Proficiency in at least one programming language and familiarity with basic data structures and algorithms.
• Preferred: word segmentation, POS tagging, entity recognition, sentence analysis, model pre-training.
• Preferred: CRF, SVM and other classic ML algorithms, word vectors, RNN, CNN, LSTM, GAN.
