Senior Software Engineer, Cross-Border Payment Systems

About the role

Tencent's Corporate Development Group (CDG) is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join its core R&D platform and own the bank integration layer of a high-scale payment network. The role leads the integration of AI-driven engineering (agents and LLMs) into core workflows, while working within CDG, which incubates fintech, advertising and marketing services and supports strategic planning, investments and investor relations.

Key responsibilities

• Architect end-to-end, high-availability integration gateways that standardize diverse banking protocols into a unified, scalable global network.
• Drive 99.99% system availability using distributed patterns such as idempotency, circuit breakers and state machines to ensure zero-duplicate transactions at massive scale.
• Lead the adoption of AI-powered tools and autonomous agents to improve development velocity, automated testing and operational reliability.
• Own the security architecture protecting the financial integrity of every global transaction.
• Set engineering standards through design reviews, mentor junior engineers and shape the cross-border engineering culture.

Required profile

• 5+ years in high-throughput banking and payments.
• Deep knowledge of ISO 20022/SWIFT and FX lifecycles (locked-in vs real-time rates).
• Proven experience with "compliant by design" architecture, including OAuth2, Mutual TLS and digital signatures.
• A proactive interest in using AI agents to optimize the software development lifecycle.

Required skills

• Expert Java and Spring Boot, with a focus on concurrency and distributed systems.
• Kafka, RocketMQ and MySQL optimization.
