Senior Software Engineer, Issuing Platform

About the role

Airwallex, the AI-native financial operating system for global commerce, is hiring a Senior Software Engineer for its issuing platform team in Singapore. The team builds and operates core systems for card issuing, transaction processing and settlement, focusing on reliability, scalability and compliance. You will be a strong individual contributor owning complex components and raising the quality of the team through example and collaboration.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build and operate backend services for card issuing, transaction processing and settlement, contributing to scalable, resilient distributed systems.
• Write high-quality, well-tested code focused on maintainability and operational readiness, and take part in code reviews, design discussions and incident retrospectives.
• Design and implement RESTful APIs used by internal teams and external customers, keeping them reliable, documented and easy to integrate.
• Work with engineers, product managers and stakeholders across regions, and mentor peers through code reviews, pairing and technical guidance.
• Support system reliability through monitoring, alerting and on-call participation, and proactively address performance, scalability and resiliency issues.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or above in computer science or a related major.
• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Experience building and operating distributed systems in production.
• Hands-on experience with event-driven architectures (e.g. Kafka).
• Experience designing and building RESTful APIs.

Required skills

• Strong backend development in Java, Kotlin, Go or Python.
• Cloud experience with GCP (preferred) or AWS, including Docker and Kubernetes.
• Familiarity with observability tools such as Splunk, Grafana or Prometheus.
• Preferred: fintech or payments experience, and JVM frameworks such as Spring or Spring Boot.
