Senior Staff Nurse, Perioperative

About the role

The Senior Staff Nurse, Perioperative position offers the chance to lead and deliver comprehensive perioperative nursing care, ensuring safe surgical outcomes and high-quality patient care across the pre-operative, intra-operative and post-operative journey.

Key responsibilities

• Implement protective measures against chemical, electrical, laser, mechanical, radiation and thermal hazards, and evaluate patients for signs of such injuries and skin and tissue damage
• Transport patients according to their needs and assess for injury during transfer
• Prepare, apply and remove devices that improve operative exposure, protect skin and tissue and maintain body alignment
• Perform required counts to ensure no sponges, instruments or sharps are left behind
• Use supplies and equipment safely and contribute to shorter operative times through advanced preparation and teamwork
• Maintain a sterile field and implement aseptic technique, including infection prevention
• Manage collection, handling and disposal of cultures and specimens
• Administer prescribed medications and solutions according to hospital policy

Required profile

• Degree or diploma in Nursing
• Registered with the Singapore Nursing Board
• At least 4 years of experience in an operating theatre setting (scrub nurse) is preferred
