Senior Technical Specialist (Mathematics & Mathematics Education)

About the role

The National Institute of Education (NIE), Singapore's national teacher education institute, is hiring a Senior Technical Specialist for its Mathematics & Mathematics Education (MME) department. The role covers event management, IT and AV support, website and social media management, video production and various administrative and finance support tasks.

Key responsibilities

• Manage MME outreach events to schools, the Ministry of Education and academic faculties, including the annual Mathematics Teachers Conference, the bi-annual MME colloquium, the NIE/MME Mathematics challenge and MME social media outreach.
• Provide IT/AV support: coding and programming lessons, the Primary Math Education certificate course, the MME e-learning system, MME labs, loaning of teaching equipment, registering removable storage media, supporting lecturers with technical problems and stamping student calculators.
• Manage the MME website (School Mathematics Mastery Test and MQT systems), social media (Facebook, X, Xiaohongshu) and the MME server.
• Record and edit videos of MME events.
• Support the Head MME with the NIE workload system, act as facilities lab booking administrator, manage and maintain computer and math labs, and serve on the MME Staff Welfare Committee.
• Provide finance support: economy drive saving, collating purchase requests for hardware and software, supporting the Good Receipt Officer, tracking software and maintenance fund usage, annual software license renewal, and managing fixed assets and inventory records.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in any discipline, preferably related to computer and technology.
• At least one year of experience as technical support staff.
• Ability to multi-task, work independently and effectively in a team.
• Strong written and oral interpersonal and communication skills.
• Hardworking, self-disciplined, responsible and committed.

Required skills

• Website and social media management, video recording and video editing are an added advantage.
