Senior Unix System Administrator

About the role

The Senior Unix System Administrator will provide day‑to‑day production support for enterprise‑wide Unix servers, both physical and virtual, across all lines of business. The role involves troubleshooting, configuration, performance monitoring, and ensuring infrastructure stability while working in shift patterns and weekend windows.

Key responsibilities

• Provide incident management and respond to critical escalations and outages.
• Troubleshoot and configure the Unix technical environment, liaising with internal and external groups as needed.
• Monitor system performance, availability, capacity, and health, ensuring compliance with configuration standards.
• Investigate root causes through problem management and drive corrective actions.
• Plan and support Unix infrastructure changes, site‑wide BCP exercises, and application‑specific BCP tests.
• Deliver weekend support for change implementations and global incident response.

Required profile

• Extensive experience supporting enterprise Unix/Linux servers, preferably RedHat Enterprise Linux (RHEL 7/8/9).
• Strong background in cluster management technologies such as PCS, VCS, or HACMP.
• Hands‑on experience with storage and networking technologies including SAN, NAS, HBA, and FCoE.
• Familiarity with a range of hardware platforms (Dell, HP, IBM) and virtualisation environments (VMware, vSAN).
• Ability to work effectively in shift and weekend schedules and communicate technical issues clearly.
