Senior UX Designer (Design Systems)

About the role

HDB is building digital products and services that improve the lives of Singaporeans, and is looking for a Senior UX Designer (Design Systems) to build and evolve its design system and the AI tools around it. The role helps designers and engineers build consistent, accessible products faster, and makes sure AI tools produce work that follows the system.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain components, patterns and design tokens, including variants, theming and documentation, with accessibility built into every component to meet Whole-of-Government Digital Service Standards, including WCAG AA.
• Work with front-end engineers to keep design and code aligned, using tools such as Code Connect and Storybook.
• Build AI tools that help designers work faster and stay on-system, such as Figma plugins, custom agents, skills and prompt templates.
• Structure the design system so AI tools can read and apply it, through machine-readable documentation, tokens and component data exposed through MCP or similar methods.
• Write scripts to automate design system tasks such as audits, token sync and documentation, and test new AI tools and share results with the design team.
• Support product designers and engineers through reviews and clear guidance, audit products for one-off patterns and drift, and run a contribution model for teams to propose and add components.
• Track adoption and report where the system helps and where it falls short.

Required profile

• 5+ years of experience in product design, UI design, design engineering or a related discipline, with 2+ years working on a design system.
• A portfolio showing design system work: components, tokens, documentation and their effect on the teams that use them.
• Experience building AI tools for design work, such as Figma plugins, custom agents, skills or prompt templates.
• Experience making design system content usable by AI tools, such as structured documentation or MCP servers.
• Ability to write scripts with the Figma API, JavaScript or similar to automate design tasks.
• Comfortable working in GitHub with engineers, and clear writing for documentation and guidelines.

Required skills

• Figma, with strong grasp of component architecture, design tokens, variants and theming.
• Working knowledge of accessibility standards, including WCAG AA.
• Preferred: component code contributions via pull requests, token pipelines, Code Connect or Storybook, supporting several products on one design system, and helping a design team adopt AI tools.
