Senior Welding Engineer

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Welding Engineer to lead and manage welding engineering activities across our EPC projects in Singapore. The role involves establishing and maintaining the ISO 3834 Welding Management System, ensuring compliance with international codes, and providing technical guidance to production teams.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage all welding engineering activities for EPC projects.
• Establish, implement, and maintain the ISO 3834 Welding Management System.
• Develop, review, and approve Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS), Procedure Qualification Records (PQR) and Welder Performance Qualification (WPQ) records.
• Ensure compliance with ASME, AWS, ISO, API, DNV, ABS and client specifications.
• Coordinate with clients, classification societies and third‑party inspection agencies on welding matters.
• Review vendor welding documentation, procedures and fabrication records.
• Provide technical support to yard and production teams and resolve welding‑related NCRs and concessions.
• Support material selection, PWHT activities, NDT coordination and weld repair strategies.
• Oversee welder training, qualification, performance monitoring and consumable control.
• Maintain calibration of welding equipment and inspection instruments.
• Participate in quality audits, surveillance activities and inspections.
• Develop welding sequences for critical structural fabrication to minimise distortion.
• Monitor welding and NDT performance targets and drive continuous improvement.
• Mentor Welding Engineers and QA/QC Inspectors on welding, NDT and PWHT requirements.

Required profile

• Degree in Welding, Metallurgy, Materials, Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
• International Welding Engineer (IWE) certification.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in structural and piping fabrication yards.
• Strong background in EPC, offshore, marine, oil & gas or heavy fabrication projects.
• Hands‑on experience with carbon steel, low‑alloy steel, stainless steel, duplex, super‑duplex, Inconel, copper‑nickel and weld‑overlay materials.
• In‑depth knowledge of heavy structural fabrication involving tubular and non‑tubular structures.
• Proven leadership, problem‑solving and communication skills.

Required skills

• Welding Procedure Specification (WPS) development and approval.
• Procedure Qualification Record (PQR) and Welder Performance Qualification (WPQ) management.
• ISO 3834, ASME, AWS, API, DNV and ABS code expertise.
• Proficiency with SMAW, GTAW, GMAW, SAW and FCAW processes.
• Knowledge of NDT methods and PWHT requirements.
• Experience with carbon steel, low‑alloy, stainless, duplex, super‑duplex, Inconel and copper‑nickel welding.
• Welding equipment calibration and consumable control.
