Senior/Executive, Hospital Cancer Registry (2-Year Contract)

About the role

The National University Cancer Institute, Singapore (NCIS), a national specialist centre under the National University Health System, is recruiting a Senior/Executive for its Hospital Cancer Registry on a 2-year contract. The incumbent interprets complex medical information in electronic medical records to abstract clinical data into the NCIS cancer registry, applying NCIS Health standards and national and central registry standards.

Key responsibilities

• Identify newly identified cases of malignancy and certain benign tumours diagnosed and/or treated within the organisation for reportability, using WHO ICD-O, SEER, NAACCR and Commission on Cancer requirements.
• Determine the course of treatment and extract the relevant details of patient cancer treatment for case abstraction.
• Assign appropriate procedure and treatment codes to diagnoses, treatments and complications of cancer care.
• Maintain the integrity of the registry database by submitting accurate and timely data that meets quality and productivity benchmarks.
• Analyse and report information from the database.
• Follow up patients to detect recurrence or related disease early and collect data on length and quality of survival.
• Perform other duties assigned by the Principal Cancer Registrar.

Required profile

• Basic degree from a recognised institution; a degree in Healthcare is preferred.
• Able to understand complex medical information in medical records and to learn cancer registry standards quickly.
• Meticulous and thorough, able to work in a fast-paced environment and as a good team member.

Required skills

• Data analysis, communication, presentation, writing and problem-solving.
• Good computer knowledge.
• Relevant ICD-O-3 coding experience is advantageous.
