Senior/Principal Engineer - Engineering and Power Solutions

About the role

This role plays a key part in the long-term planning and development of Singapore's port and maritime infrastructure, including Tuas Port and MPA's facilities. It covers port master planning, infrastructure development, climate resilience, renewable energy deployment and energy management, working with government agencies, port operators and industry partners.

Key responsibilities

• Port planning and development: lead coordination with government agencies on land use planning, land alienation and infrastructure; manage pre-reclamation studies such as EIAs; work with terminal operators on approvals and monitor progressive development.
• Master planning of MPA's facilities: feasibility studies, master planning and concept designs, and securing planning and regulatory approvals.
• Climate change adaptation and coastal protection: oversee site-specific engineering studies, coordinate coastal protection measures, and represent MPA in inter-agency workgroups and research initiatives.
• Solarisation and energy management: lead feasibility studies and concept designs for solar PV, energy management systems and microgrids, and evaluate emerging technologies to improve energy efficiency.
• Maritime emergency operations: take part in the duty roster providing oil spill trajectory forecasts and search-and-rescue drift predictions, and help develop and validate simulation models with research institutions and industry partners.

Required profile

• Civil Engineering or a related engineering discipline, with at least 8 years of relevant, progressive experience in infrastructure planning, engineering or project development.
• Experience in port and maritime infrastructure planning, coastal engineering, climate resilience, renewable energy or energy management is an advantage.
• Strong analytical, planning and problem-solving skills, able to manage multidisciplinary studies and coordinate complex projects with many stakeholders.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills, with a strong command of written and spoken English.
