Senior/Principal NAND Device Engineer

About the role

Micron's Device Technology Development team is looking for a NAND Device Engineer (Senior, Staff or Principal level) to shape next-generation NAND technologies. The role sits at the intersection of device physics, array operation and product requirements, working on state-of-the-art 3D NAND and collaborating with teams across global sites.

Key responsibilities

• Analyze electrical characterization data from cell arrays and test structures to find limitations and improvement opportunities, and turn device understanding into directions for cell design, process optimization and array operation.
• Drive device-array co-optimization, including threshold voltage placement, distribution control and sensing margins, and refine algorithms, trims and waveform strategies to improve performance, yield and reliability.
• Help solve system-level problems such as interference, retention, endurance and read/write margin trade-offs.
• Work with process integration, cell design, product engineering and test teams, give feedback on process experiments and splits, and take part in cross-functional debug, yield ramp and technology bring-up activities.
• Contribute to next-generation NAND technology definition and scaling strategies, and propose and prototype novel device or algorithmic solutions.
• Use data analytics, statistical modeling and AI/ML to extract insights from large device and array datasets, and build or leverage automation frameworks, data pipelines and AI-assisted tools.
• Replace manual workflows with AI-driven solutions such as anomaly detection and predictive modeling, and collaborate with data science and engineering teams on scalable AI-enabled workflows.

Required profile

• Bachelor's, Master's or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Physics or a related field.
• Solid understanding of semiconductor devices and fundamentals.
• Strong analytical mindset and good communication skills, able to work in collaborative, multi-site teams.
• Preferred: exposure to machine learning, AI or advanced data analytics, and experience building automated analysis pipelines or engineering tools.

Required skills

• Preferred: data analysis tools such as Python, MATLAB or JMP, and statistics.
• Preferred: familiarity with memory array operation, sensing schemes or algorithm development.
