Shift Engineer – Baggage Handling Systems

About the role

The Shift Engineer ensures smooth, uninterrupted operation of the baggage handling system during assigned shifts at Singapore Changi Airport. You will monitor system performance, log incidents, and coordinate rapid fault resolution while supporting preventive maintenance activities.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor the BHS for faults, baggage flow interruptions, and short‑shipped or damaged bags, and dispatch technicians immediately.
• Oversee Control Room Senior and Technical Officers, ensuring prompt response and proper documentation of all incidents.
• Coordinate diversion and evacuation of baggage during breakdowns to maintain continuous flow.
• Provide regular status updates to CP Management and clients, and ensure accurate operation log books.
• Execute scheduled system start‑up checks, switchovers, and server reboots as directed.
• Support technicians with technical guidance, training, and performance monitoring.

Required profile

• Degree or Diploma in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering with at least 5 years of experience in installation and maintenance of conveyors, heavy machinery, or plant equipment.
• Experience with material handling or baggage handling systems is a strong advantage.
• Ability to work rotating shifts and function effectively as a team player.
• Commitment to safety standards and disciplined personnel management.
