Silicon Photonics Designer

About the role

We are seeking a motivated Designer to join our team developing cutting‑edge silicon photonics devices for optical transceivers, co‑packaged optics, and optical switches. The role involves end‑to‑end device creation, from concept through simulation, layout, and testing.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop high‑performance passive and active silicon photonics components such as couplers, splitters, polarization devices, MUX/DEMUX, phase shifters, photodetectors, and modulators.
• Collaborate with silicon photonics foundries to co‑develop innovative process flows for next‑generation devices.
• Perform comprehensive device simulations and build numerical models to predict performance.
• Create tape‑out layouts for foundries and ensure timely delivery.
• Conduct optical and electrical testing, perform root‑cause analysis, and iteratively improve device performance.
• Contribute to the design and development of large‑scale photonic integrated circuits (PICs).

Required profile

• PhD in Electrical Engineering or a related field with strong research experience in silicon photonics.
• Experience with tape‑out processes in photonic foundries and familiarity with photonic PDKs.
• Strong communication skills in English (and/or Chinese) and proven ability to work in a collaborative team.
