Software Development Engineer, LaserJet R&D

About the role

The Software Development Engineer works on software applications, data platforms, reporting solutions, engineering databases and intelligent automation systems that support product qualification, validation, performance testing and laboratory operations. The role drives adoption of data analytics, AI-assisted engineering workflows and Agentic AI solutions to improve engineering productivity and decision making across R&D teams. It works closely with Hardware R&D engineers, global R&D organisations and network support teams.

Key responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end integration across software applications, databases, backend services and web technologies to ensure reliable performance and data integrity.
• Troubleshoot and resolve software, database, application integration and test execution issues.
• Partner with Hardware R&D engineers to turn engineering challenges into practical software and automation solutions.
• Build secure data-management solutions covering collection, storage, processing, visualisation and reporting.
• Develop scalable, reliable and maintainable software that improves engineering productivity.
• Design, develop, deploy and support custom applications, databases, web portals, reporting solutions and user interfaces for engineering test environments.
• Develop and maintain automation tools that streamline engineering workflows and test execution.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Information Technology or a related technical discipline.
• Typically 5-7 years of experience in software development, application support, engineering systems support or related R&D environments.
• Experience supporting business-critical software platforms, databases, web applications and integrated engineering systems.
• Ability to work independently and collaborate with cross-functional, geographically distributed teams.
• Preferred: experience in laboratory, manufacturing, validation or engineering test environments, and experience in a global product development organisation.
