Software Engineer – 1 Year Contract (Backend/Frontend/Full‑Stack)

About the role

We are seeking Software Engineers to support digital transformation projects for Singapore’s public sector. Depending on the team, you may focus on backend, frontend, or full‑stack development, contributing to meaningful digital products and platforms.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, test and maintain reliable, scalable software applications and services.
• Build backend APIs and services using Java, Kotlin, Python, Node.js/TypeScript, Go or C#/.NET.
• Develop modern frontend applications with React/Next.js, Vue or Angular.
• Design and integrate RESTful and/or GraphQL APIs.
• Work with relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and NoSQL stores where appropriate.
• Create system integrations, data‑processing pipelines and event‑driven services.
• Write maintainable, well‑tested code, participate in code reviews and apply automated testing, security and observability practices.
• Use Docker, containerised applications and cloud environments for deployment.
• Troubleshoot production issues, investigate root causes and implement sustainable solutions.
• Collaborate with product, design and engineering teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions.

Required profile

• Relevant professional experience in software engineering with strong fundamentals.
• Hands‑on experience in at least one backend or frontend technology stack.
• Familiarity with APIs, databases and modern development practices.
• Understanding of automated testing, Git‑based development and code reviews.
• Experience with Docker, containerisation and cloud deployment.
• Ability to investigate technical problems, work with ambiguity and communicate effectively with technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
